FAQ

What are short term loans?

Short term loans are here to help you when you are faced with unexpected bills or require a quick cash boost. The loan is there to be used for a short length of time just to get you through to payday. Typically no more than 31 days.

How will it take for the application process and how soon will I receive the money?

It generally only takes a few minutes to approve an application, including e-signing the credit agreement. However, in some cases we may require you to provide additional information. But even if this happens it’s still taken care of in less than 25 minutes.

How do I know if I am eligible?

If you are aged 18+ and in full time employment earning £750+ PCM. You are likely to be eligible to apply. You need a valid bank account so we can debit the loan back and prove you have a valid debit card.

Why do you need this information?

Please see below section - What information will you need to be able to complete the application?

Do you use credit referencing or credit scoring agencies?

No! We never use credit reference agencies to approve your application

If I have a bad credit history - could I still apply?

Of course! We do not base our decision on lending to you over the long term (12months+) therefore we are only need to know your current circumstances.

I don't have a debit card - can I still apply?

Please ask us for more details as it is not always necessarily required to have a debit card with your bank account.

How can I apply?

Just complete the simple form online. Once approved we will ask a few quick questions and then just to e-sign the loan agreement. We will take care of the rest.

When can I get my money?

We will transfer your money straight away; if your application is completed before 3pm then you will normally have your money the same day. If not, the money will be in your account the next working day.

How can I get my money?

We will pay them directly into your bank account.

How do I pay back the loan?

Its very easy! We will set up a direct debit ready to take the payment straight from your bank on your next payday via your debit card.

Can I defer my Payment?

Yes! (Upon request) Although after deferring a payday loan twice we will ask you to reduce your balance. Deferral will incur new charges every month the you defer - but still at our fixed rate - there are no additional charges.

What if I have some problems with the payments?

We know that sometimes peoples circumstances will change. If this does occur, you must let us know as soon as you can and we shall do our very best to help you. The most important things to remember are:

I am not happy with the service– what can I do?

Here at Payday Match, we do everything possible to make sure all our customers get the very best possible service. However, occasionally, things don’t go right first time.

If you're not completely satisfied with our service, we need to know about it - then we can do something to put it right. Please email any comments to our customer service team

Why is the APR so high?

APR or Annual Percentage Rate is the usual for comparing finance that is lent over a 12 months period or more. But a Payday loan is set over a 1 month period therefore it can be misleading for comparison purposes.

I have more questions that aren’t covered here?

Please contact our Customer Service Team. Find all their details on our Contact Us Page.

Our Charges?

Is there a charge for the application?

No! We do not charge any fees to set up the loan.

What is charges are there for borrowing money?

The typical charge for credit is 25 pence for every 100 pence borrowed. If you borrow £100 you would simply repay £125. However this can vary depending on lender or even be less depending on the term of the loan. You will be informed of the exact amount before completing and agreeing to the loan.

Why is the APR so high?

APR’s are calculated when paying a fixed amount of interest over a 12 month period. Our loans are for a maximum of 31 day period.

We show our interest payable using the APR method (Annual Percentage Rate) even though our loans are offered for a maximum of 31 days. Therefore the typical Representative APR rate of 1737% does look extremely high when you compare it to the other loan rates on the high street.

Representative Example: Representative Loan Example: Borrow £300 for 30 days, Amount payable - £375, Interest - £75, Interest rate (pa) - 1737% (variable)

To compare, a short term loan is similar to going to watch your favourite music group perform. A concert ticket cost £100 for a gig lasting 90 minutes. However, to annualise this, your ticket would cost £584,000 or 5840% APR!

Putting It Into Simpler Terms

APR was initially designed to comparing like-for-like financial products. Such as basic loans over several years and ongoing credit card balances. It is still important to consider this with any credit. But it was not devised for short term loans. In the case of loans for a few days or weeks, it's not an easy to follow representation of the interest actually charged.

In the case of our loans, the result of annualisation is a typical APR that looks 'extraterrestrial' for a loan taken over several years, but because our cash advances are only short term up to 1 month. With such a short term credit, APR has the potential to be very confusing because it creates incomparable numbers when put next to the average long term loan. This is why we always show the total repayable amount before you apply. By being completely clear and understandable, you can decide what's affordable and worth paying for the loan you need.

In most cases if you borrow £100 you will repay £125. The total amount to repayable is be clearly stated to you before agreeing to the loan.
